School-Enterprise Co-construction | Returning to Campus for Advanced Draping Skills Training

HT Fashion News: On April 20th and 21st, HT Fashion organized a special two-day advanced draping skills training event, bringing team members from various technical departments back to campus to enhance their foundational knowledge and further improve their professional skills to better serve the evolving market.

For this training, we invited Guo Lianxia, Director of the Garment Teaching and Research Office at Jinan Engineering Vocational and Technical College, a national senior technician and KAB Entrepreneurship Education (China) program lecturer, to provide in-depth knowledge on draping techniques. To enrich the classroom experience, Director Guo shared practical draping tips specifically aimed at resolving issues found in flat pattern sample making. The training was divided into two parts: a theoretical session and hands-on practice. During the lecture, Director Guo explained the draping methods and important considerations for tailoring fitted garments such as suits, while the hands-on session allowed participants to practice directly on dress forms, helping them master the steps, methods, and techniques of draping.

The partners of the technical department came to study and research with their problems. After listening attentively to the instructor's explanations, they skillfully followed the steps and guidelines for draping and began applying these techniques on dress forms. A well-constructed garment pattern is the result of multiple methods and revisions, and adjusting the garment’s fit is a key outcome of sample making. Therefore, mastering draping skills can effectively reduce the number of revisions and streamline the sample-making process.

This training also represents a further step in HT Fashion's commitment to fostering deeper school-enterprise cooperation and advancing collaborative education. Looking ahead, HT Fashion will continue to promote in-depth exchanges between schools and enterprises to realize mutual benefits and shared resources.
